How the Assumption is celebrated from the Nativity of the Abyss Mid-August in our imagination corresponds to a day of sunshine (too much this year), of water balloons (almost disused), games on the beach (for young and old) and gargantuan binges. But ... .. but in the Catholic tradition, August 15 corresponds to the feast of the Assumption of Mary. Let's take a look at the more or less ancient traditions that accompany this festival in Albisola Marina or Superiore; on the evening of August 15, at 7.00 pm, a procession of boats has been taking place for years, organized by the ASD Pescatori Dilettanti Albisola, which, after having paraded along the coast of Albisola, places a wreath at the foot of the Virgin of the Nativity of the Abyss. The procession is accompanied by the rescue skates of the Albisola bathing establishments which, as the boats pass, raise an oar to pay homage to you; the same establishments provide skates and other equipment to be able to visit the installation located 200 meters from the shore at any time, near the mouth of the Sansobbia stream. We recall the typicality of the project: at present the three statues of Mary, Joseph and the Child are immersed in a depth of 6/7 meters in the site described above. Kept clean thanks to the work of the Divine Unit of the Civil Protection of Albenga and the personal care of the diver Giovanni Badano, on the site you will also find a video of their work, these works should be accompanied by 9 others over three years thanks to the contribution of the De Mari Foundation and some Master Ceramists.
